D'Juana Jones's Story

I moved to Pasadena, Texas after I graduated from Stephen F. Austin University. I married a Pasadena man, and we were together for 47 years. I have a Bachelor of Music, Associate of Childhood Education, Associate in Early Childhood Education, Master of Theater Arts, Master of Human Science in Chld Psychology, am Certified in Reality Therapy and Certified in Radio/TV. I still teach Modeling, Self-Esteem and classes for older women entitled "Looking My Best." I coach young ladies going to Miss Texas, having judged for the Miss Texas USA and Miss Texas America many times. You asked about trophies I had? I was encouraged to enter the Ms Pasadena Senior Competition by the San Jacinto Foundation, who sponsored me in the competition. I Was fortunate enough to win. The City of Pasadena sponsored me to go to the State Pageant. The office of Seniors within the city wanted to promote their projects on "The Age of Elegance". From there I was awarded the titles of Sr Ms Texas Star, Ms Senior Classic, Sr. Ms Southern States, and was 4th Runner-Up in Sr Ms American. These are organizations that recognize senior classic women for their leadershp and service to their community. (It is not a beauty pageant for Grandmothers!) I am a widow, retired, active in several service organizations - Historical Society, Rodeo Asso. , San Jacinto Foundation, Pasadena Strawberry Festival, a host of others, I travel, read, still play the piano and sing. I am active in the 1st Methodist church and am a Sunday School Teacher. I tinker with my computer (not a whiz), love emailing, Facebook, and games. I like reading, and am an avid fan of The Astros, Texans, Rockets, and Aeros. My great-grandchildren keep me rea...Expand for more
lly busy going to their little league games, too. I have 2 children, 3 Granddaughters, and 7 Great Grandchildren. If I won $100 million, I'd give half of it to my family, then spend the rest on 1st Methodist Church, the Strawberry Festival's Scholarship program, and me. Lived in the Dorm at S F A University - pledged Pine Burrs which later became Chi Omega. Campus life was FABOO ! My current age is 76. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be dead. I was so completely wrong - never been sick in my life, Thank You, God!. I still think ladies, young and old, should dress feminine. I still put on make-up, accessories, and the whole shabang. I wonder if some girls have mirrors in their house so they can see what they look like when they go to a dressy restaurant, etc. In 10 years, I hope to be doing the same thing I am doing now. I'm going to get there by doing the same thing as I am now doing. My first job was at modeling at S F A College Art Classes, where I got paid $5.00 an hour (whoo-hoo !) to stand still. What I remember most about it is that it was more tiring than I thought to stand still for an hour. I listen to music to blow off steam. My first crush? I had a lot of them at PNHS. They never knew. I live with my daughter, who moved in with me 3 years ago. It's not too bad (with 2 women under the same roof). I am a widow and the house was big and empty. What would surprise my classmates? I was a white blonde ( they called me Proxy), and now I am a white silver. I've come full circle. You asked about the wildest thing I ever did in High School. (Get Outta Town !) I was considered a Wild-Child! P s - I didn't make up this essay - I just answered the questions.
